Clare had her ear tubes put in this morning. We checked in and they took us back to Pre-op. We put her in a little gown and they gave her some medicine. It just zoned her out. The anestesiologist came to get her. (He's a friend of my dad's- as is our ENT. They're both Christian men, which made it a little easier for me too.)
He wrapped her up in a warm blanket and carried her away. She just stared at him, but didn't mind a bit. (so she must've been drugged!)
We went back to the waiting room and a long 18 minutes later, a lady took us to a consult room to wait for the ENT. He said everything went great. Clare's ears were mildly infected and she had lots of fluid. So he cleaned them out and put in tubes. He took us to recovery and we could hear her crying and so we knew exactly where she was.
I rocked her and she quickly fell asleep on me for about 10 minutes. They gave her some juice when she woke up and she was already giving the nurse the evil eye- so we knew she was fine. :) (If you've met Clare, you've gotten that look too!) Then we were released to go home.
Clare took a nap on Aunt Sara for about 30 minutes and then ate some breakfast. As you can see... she was still a bit 'out of it'. Her main side effect really is her balance. Her physical therapist had said Clare may have to learn to walk again once all that fluid was out of her ears. She is VERY wobbly on her feet today. But I'm sure she'll regain her balance soon.
