Have you gotten into "going GREEN"? I have to admit-- I have been bitten by the bug and I love it. I always thought that "going green" cost too much money- like buying organic food/clothing, buying more expensive light bulbs, paying for most insulation, etc... Even "environmentally friendly" cleaners I bought in the past clearly did not clean as well and my old ones.
Then our pastor, Pete Briscoe, did a sermon on God's view of "going green" and it really challenged my thinking. In a nutshell, God has entrusted the earth to us and it is our responsibility to take care of it.
Some easy things that I do every day are: Use reusable shopping bags (They are so great! And fit so much!), recycle everything I possibly can, print on both sides of paper, etc... Cleaners have come a long ways too- so we use those now. Frisco has wonderful recycling facilities. They make it easy to properly dispose of hazardous waste. Today was "Chunk Your Junk" day to bring everything to one location. We took a box of old batteries, an old printer, old cell phones, etc... to be recycled. I love that our recycle bin is always completely full and our trash bin usually isn't.
Now I will still never put Clare in reusable diapers..... but it makes me happy to be doing something and more importantly- teach Reed and Clare the value of "going green".
