After living in Texas for 28 years now, I should know all about tornado drills. Yesterday we had a real life tornado drill! By 3:00 pm it was quite dark outside and the news said there was rotation southwest of here. Both children were sleeping, so I called Greg and asked him at what point I should wake them up and go into our inner bathroom. Within the hour the rain started, a little bit of hail came and then the sirens started blaring. I had four people call within a three minute time span-- making sure I'd seen the news and was taking cover.

Reed thought it was super fun to sit in the bathtub with his afternoon snack and little dvd player! Clare didn't mind that I'd woken her up as long as I fed her. I have to admit I was scared to death! I've been through tornadoes on my own, but never with two babies to protect. I think it's time to get our safety kit together and make sure I have a better plan next time so that I'm a bit calmer under the circumstances.

Fortunately, the storm pretty much evaporated over Frisco and there was no real danger Some funnel clouds were seen in the area and north of here had pingpong ball sized hail- but not here.

Afterwards, I told Reed we could go into the living room. He said he was just fine watching his movie in the bathtub, so he hung out there for another 45 minutes until his movie was over. I'm glad he wasn't as scared as his mother!
