Reed is very excited about the Christmas festivities we see everywhere. He says "hi" and "bye" to our Christmas tree every time he gets up or goes to bed. His eyes are big as saucers when we drive around looking at Christmas lights. He plays with his Little People Nativity set. And he loves snowmen! He is NOT so crazy about Santa, however.
While playing in the kid area at the mall yesterday morning, Santa wondered by on his way to work. All dressed in red and white, the jolly Santa came into the kid area to say hello to all the kids. I was so sad to not have a camera with me for a free photo with Santa! Reed had much different thoughts than I did. All of the dozen children who had been running around carefree just moments before, ran and hid in their mother's arms.
Reed slowly backed up until he felt me and then proceeded to bury himself behind my legs. Most of the children were crying at this point, but Reed was mesmerized by this large, elderly gentleman asking him for a "high five". Reed said, "No." and when back to hiding.
Poor Santa! A room full of children and not one was happy to see him. He wished us all a Merry Christmas and continued on his way through the mall. In a few moments the children were back to running around the play area. Guess we won't bother wasting $15 for a picture of Reed crying on Santa's lap this year!
